ShopSavvy opens up barcode scanning to wider audience

In the United States, ShopSavvy’s barcode scanning app has become very popular, with many retailers rushing to open up their inventory and pricing data to the platform so users can enjoy this mobile shopping tool to the full.

Now that ShopSavvy has amassed more than 10 million users, the company has decided to relax the rules on new stores joining up with the app through the introduction of the ShopSavvy Marketplace. This lets retailers input their own data to the ProductCloud system.

As one of the first app developers to allow consumers to scan barcodes in shops and compare prices between various retailers, ShopSavvy is well-placed to roll out its service to more people.

While informed shoppers can really save money and make good choices with regards to their purchases, retailers have found that the platform really drives traffic towards their stores and websites. Even those with higher prices in the market have found that this direct connection to consumers has proved beneficial. Deals and sales can also be relayed to a target audience through the ad space sold within the app.

ShopSavvy helps retailers making use of the barcode scanning app and better understand their inventory data, so it seems this platform is beneficial to everyone.
