One of the best ways to track assets and maintain accurate data records is to use barcode labels. Barcode labels have long since replaced the manual method of attaching a price to every product you have for sale. A barcode has a number of black stripes which are printed onto a product or a label and the label affixed to the product. Because the series of stripes represents a code, they can be read by a scanner and the code interpreted. Different barcodes have of course different spacings between the black lines and a different number of black lines, so different barcodes can be affixed to all the items you own.
