Barcode label’s admin role

Many companies use barcode labels for stock control purposes. They are used at point of sale to identify a product and improve purchasing knowledge. However, barcode labels have other uses too and shouldn’t be buttonholed into their use on consumer goods.

Over the last few years barcodes labels have started to be used in more administrative roles as the access and availability of barcode scanning technology has become open to the masses. They can be attached to documents, letters and other important paperwork so the labels can be scanned and important information added to a database.

Filing and recording important data

If you need to record important data contained within documents, and you have a huge volume of these documents, it can save you time and effort if you barcode all the documents or sections of the documents. You can then scan the barcode to view the contents of the documents on a computer screen, instead of searching through various folders to find the document you are looking for.

Delivery of goods

Barcode labels can be used on goods which are dispatched by courier firms. Each item can be assigned a barcode label and this label can be scanned at all points on the parcels journey. This way track and trace functions can be used so the intended recipient of the package can be kept abreast of the movements of the package.
