Track assets using asset labels

Asset labels are a useful way of labelling and tracking your company’s assets. However, it is important to select the correct label for the task. Labels can be made out of a number of different materials, each with different properties, and therefore you must consider which is the most appropriate for your intended use.

Materials used in the manufacture of asset labels include aluminium, vinyl and polyester.

Aluminium – Anodised aluminium can be used to produce asset labels, ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. These may be particularly appropriate if the labels are to be used on a product that will be exposed to harsh surroundings, for example in sunlight, sea salt or high temperatures. The advantage of aluminium asset labels is that they highly durable.

Polyester – By laminating the labels with a durable polyester layer, the asset label is provided protection from chemicals or scratching. Such laminated labels are resilient to a wide range of temperatures.

Vinyl – Making labels from vinyl is particularly useful. They will stick on most surfaces, and be resilient at a range of temperatures.

It is important to select the asset label material which is most appropriate to the conditions under which your product will be stored and subsequently used.
