Android users finally get first rate barcode scanning app

Until recently, Apple iPhone users had more reason to shout about their gadget than those using a device utilising the Android platform. This was because leading online retailer Amazon had reserved their highly acclaimed Flow barcode scanning application for the iOS only.

It has now been revealed that Android operating system users can now get this handy app from the Google Play App Store and download it onto their handsets.

The standard app from Amazon may have supported the scanning of barcodes. However, Amazon Flow includes a range of additional features and is certainly more refined.

The user interface on Flow is designed to make things simple for consumers as they direct the camera on their smartphone towards whatever product they are interested in. For DVDs, this gives the user access to movie trailers and more, without needing to do anything else but scan these retail barcodes.

This automatic feature is just one of many interesting augmented reality benefits to shoppers. It also supports QR codes – one thing the iPhone version does not currently offer – so for once Android users get the chance to be smug over their Apple-owning counterparts.

Free downloads such as Amazon Flow are incredibly popular nowadays as the use of barcode labels becomes even more extensive.
